The files include primarily correspondence with southern college groups pertaining to local seminars and the integration of southern campuses, particularly the University of Mississippi (1962). The United States National Student Association (USNSA) was founded in 1947 to assist students in their quest for education regardless of race, sex, and religious or political beliefs. In 1958, USNSA held the first of its Southern Student Human Relations Seminars (SSHRS) directed by Ray Farabee.
